Job Summary
Applies comprehensive engineering science and industry experience in the design, fabrication, and implementation of new equipment, tooling, processes to tasks delegated in terms of objectives rather than specific instruction and priorities. Able to make use of mechanics, physics, thermodynamics, mathematics, graphics, hydraulics, and the related engineering subjects in the completion of complex assignments, often crossing fields. Reviews progress, evaluates results, has appreciable latitude for unreviewed action. Works with minimum supervision. Recommends and implements procedure changes, develops process improvements through capital investments, has extensive experience in design, troubleshooting, and manufacturing. Provides guidance, mentoring, and assistance to lower level or fellow employees.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with program management, operations, quality assurance, and other departments to align engineering efforts with company goals.
  • Drive innovation by researching emerging technologies, evaluating tools, and integrating modern engineering solutions into business operations.
  • Use modeling and prototyping (including 3D printing) to test innovative ideas, minimize project risk, and facilitate data-driven decisions.
  • Participate in customer interface activities to ensure products/services meet requirements and expectations.
  • Track and manage engineering workloads, outsourcing work packages as needed to meet deadlines while optimizing resource use.
  • Provide inputs for and review drawings to ensure tolerances, materials, and specifications meet requirements.
  • Analyze data trends using statistical methods to guide process improvements and risk mitigation.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering, chemistry, physics, and materials science to solve technical problems.
  • Maintain and improve cleanliness of work areas.
  • Conduct scheduling and coordination of internal/external resources for project execution.
  • Collaborate with Program Engineers and leadership to prioritize automation/capital projects that reduce costs and human error.
  • Develop process documents (SOW, CERs, validation plans, MOC, SAT, FAT) to ensure successful project implementation.
  • Ensure engineering projects meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Execute capital/contract projects to deliver on schedule, budget, and scope objectives.
  • Monitor and report project status using tools like Microsoft Project, weekly reports, and Program Management Reviews.
  • Oversee engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Manage the requirements lifecycle (creation, documentation, verification, validation) to align deliverables with stakeholder goals.
  • Use Management of Change (MOC) processes to review engineering changes for safety, quality, and production impacts before implementation.
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above.
  • Understand and live by Armtec’s ethics and business conduct policies.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of mechanical principles, material strength, material science and metallurgy, hydraulics, and thermodynamics.
  • Good math skills, computer skills, and knowledge of measuring instruments and methods.
  • Solid knowledge of modern fabrication methods, machine shop practices and techniques.
  • Good troubleshooting skills.
  • Capable of integrating existing methods with new innovations to economically solve problems in a timely manner.
  • Drafting skills required along with knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
  • Knowledge of CAD systems preferred.
  • Project Management skills and ability to create detailed program and project detailed schedule.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and people skills required.
  • Must be dependable, responsible, and accurate and have the ability to deal with people effectively.

Armtec Competencies
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering science with five plus years of engineering experience required.
  • Demonstrate ability in the Armtec competencies as an employee: customer focus, ethics and values, problem solving, integrity and trust, functional/technical skills, listening, action-oriented, composure and values diversity.
Education & Professional Work Experience Requirements
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorization from the U.S. Government
Work Hours & Travel
  • 4X10 work week with occasional overtime on Fridays or weekends as necessary, to meet program objectives.
  • Up to 20% mostly US travel is required, normally a few multi-day trips per quarter.
