Job Summary
This position provides leadership and direction for Testers, Preppers and Quality Test Technicians.  Responsible for preparation, arming and testing of various flares for LAT Infrared Output, static function, and dynamic preparation and testing.  Employees in this job will perform a variety of technician assignments in support of quality and/or test departmental programs, services and activities.  Work is performed through the application of a body of knowledge related to the methods, practices, procedures, policies and regulations of this field.  Job includes setting up and maintaining equipment applicable to area;  calibrating and repairing designated instruments;  performing specific tests to support Production, Quality and Engineering;  monitoring and analyzing test data and communicating trends to appropriate departments;  developing procedures and policies for safely conducting test activities; and determining necessary equipment upgrades, including procurement, installation, and implementation. 
Primary Responsibilities
  • Leads Testers in:
  • Preparing, Arming and testing flare output performance
  • Set-up and testing of flares static function/velocity conformance
  • Preparation and test firing of end burners
  • Ignition comp testing
  • Pulling samples
  • Performing all required tests
  • Plans sequence of testing and calibration procedures for instruments, equipment and products.
  • Coordinates test results with Blend Supervisor; maintains general test records, as required.
  • Sets up and maintains test equipment for the performance of in-process and lot acceptance testing.
  • Makes final accept/reject disposition for batch acceptance tests; interfaces and coordinates lot acceptance testing with Quality Technician and Government QAR and/or DCMA.
  • Originates and reports final lot test data to appropriate area for all lot history data.
  • Archives all materials and data used to originate reports, Videos, High Speed Data, Spreadsheets and Paperwork etc.
  • Oversees calibration and repairing of electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic measuring, recording and indicating instruments.
  • Performs standard and special tests to support Production, Quality and Engineering.
  • Responsible for development of procedures and policies for safely conducting test activities.
  • Determines necessary equipment upgrades, including procurement, installation, and implementation.
  • Responsible for inspecting instruments, equipment, products and components for defects.
  • Devises formulas to solve problems in testing, measurements and calibrations.
  • Assists Engineering/Operations in formulating tests, calibrations, repair, and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording and indicating instruments, equipment and products.
  • Maintains open communication with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Materials and Programs/Contracts.
  • Makes decisions using Quality acceptance criteria without personal judgment on any issue brought forth – if unknown, must be able to seek assistance through research, past experience and supervisors.
  • Seeks ways to improve the performance, Quality and integrity of the product which may be approached through the use of tools, training, or re-design of equipment.
  • Keeps track of employee records and ensures all training is up to date – must also give input on employee competence.
  • Gives direction, monitors performance and trains Pyrotechnic Testers, and assigned Technicians.
  • Assists through the entire process of preparing using to be tested, setting up of equipment, performing the test and analyzing and delivering results to responsible parties. 
  • Maintains the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above.
  • Understands and lives by Armtec’s ethics and business conduct policies.
Qualifications
  • Proficient in Excel spreadsheets; data analysis, formatting of usable tables and other evaluation documents.
  • Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control and associated data analysis.
  • Proficient at reading and generating charts and graphs; troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge of the practical use of quality measuring devices.
  • Capable of interacting with other departments.
  • Must be able to work 2nd shift; overtime; and wear a flash suit level 4 or 5 if required; must be respirator certified.
  • Must possess both technical and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have a clear understanding of, and follow, all safety rules and regulations.
  • Must be a team player, who can work independently in support of all product testing requirements.
  • Must be able to read flare data and technical specifications and be able perform/conduct tests that meet specifications and reference documents to determine lot acceptance criteria.
  • Have a clear understanding of all tests performed and be able to carry out tests individually if needed.

Education/Previous Experience Requirements
  • Associates degree preferred.
  • Three years of related experience and/or training.
  • Must understand basic math, science, and engineering principles.
  • Must have general computer skills. (MS Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Must communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Assist in the training of newer test technicians to help develop skills needed to be self-sufficient.
