Job Summary

This position responsibilities for planning, coordination, and control of manufacturing processes in specific assigned Manufacturing Areas.  He/She ensures that goods and services are produced efficiently and that the correct amount is produced at the right cost and level of quality.  He/she will drive the intent and purpose and the practices of the Armtec Operating System within their organizations to achieve key goals and demonstrate visible results.  All actions driven by the Production Managers will align with the strategic goal of creating a world class Armtec Company. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Production Scheduling:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain production schedules to ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Coordinate with material planners to ensure availability of materials required for production schedules.
  • Adjust schedules as needed to address delays, equipment breakdowns, or changing priorities.
  • Resource Allocation:
  • Optimize the use of labor, equipment, and materials to meet production demands.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to minimize downtime and ensure equipment readiness.
  • Responsible for overseeing and developing strategies for organizing and assignment of personnel for optimized production flexibility and efficiency.
  • Manage equipment, facilities, materials, and staff in your production area to achieve high output and quality, while meeting performance goals. Make sure production lines receive everything they need to produce the right amount of the right products, delivered to the right place, at the right time, and with the right quality.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the Safety Department to implement and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Partner with the Quality Department to uphold production standards and resolve quality issues promptly.
  • Coordinate with Program Managers to align production plans with project timelines and customer requirements.
  • Engage with Engineering to integrate process improvements and new product launches effectively.
  • Collaborates with staff, other departments, senior management, and decision makers to share information, problem solve, and to clarify management objectives. Participates in the coordination of engineering changes, product line extensions, or new product launches to ensure orderly and timely transitions in material or production flow.
  • Performance Monitoring:
  • Track production metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions to meet performance targets.
  • Prepare and present reports on production performance, safety compliance, and resource utilization.
  • Keeps subordinates informed of changes in company/manufacturing procedures and ensure compliance to such.
  • Ensures that all manufacturing activities adhere to standard operating procedures for production operations. Performs weekly SOP audits.
 
  • Leadership and Development:
  • Provide leadership and direction to the production team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Train and mentor staff to enhance skill levels and support career development.
  • With their teams, develops procedures for coordination of manufacturing activities management such as SOPs, workflows, cycle times, system flows, position responsibilities, or training materials and technical manuals with other functional areas such as Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, or Quality Control as required.
  • Safety and Quality Directives:
  • Ensure all production activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Promote quality-first initiatives, encouraging proactive identification and resolution of potential issues.
  • Understands and lives by Armtec’s ethics and business conduct policies.

Qualifications
  • Over 5 years of experience in manufacturing, which includes duties focused on lean manufacturing, production cost reduction and effective project management.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in energetic materials production and manufacturing processes and techniques.
  • Quality systems and standards. AS9100 is a strong plus.
  • Process improvement methods and techniques.
  • Know and enforce Health and Safety standards and compliance
  • Demonstrate people management skills and thorough understanding and application of best practices.  Good communication skills, particularly the ability to influence and persuade others, and write concise reports, demonstration of leadership abilities within the 3 circles of the Armtec Way.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Electro-Mechanical and Pneumatic equipment.
  • Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and/or Green or Black Belt training a plus
  • Must be familiar with Manufacturing Principles, ERP systems (IQMS preferred). Solid technology skills, including demonstrated proficiency in MS Office programs.
  • A creative and focused problem-solver willing to take up new challenges.  Demonstrated initiative and ability to lead problem-solving teams.

Education/Previous Experience Requirement

  • 4-year Degree in operations, manufacturing, engineering, business preferred.  With Management approval, may substitute experience for education.
  • MS Office Skills (Excel & Word) required
  • Experience working with an ERP system in a manufacturing environment preferred

  • 4/10 workweek
