Job Summary
The Quality Manager at Armtec is accountable for quality functions at our California Ordnance site.  They will lead a team of Quality focused personnel in Quality Engineering, Quality Assurance & Control, Audit, Inspection, and Calibration.  They serve as a mentor for Quality department staff, a representative to our customer’s quality leadership, and a continuous improvement champion for our Quality function and our production operations.  The Quality Manager is expected to ensure we meet all regulatory and customer requirements for our products.  They shall develop quality improvement plans and regularly analyze, monitor, and communicate status on current state of our performance against these plans.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Responsible for overall product quality at the site.
  • Develop and manage strategic quality improvement plans for the site, in alignment with operating unit strategies.
  • Develop and manage the Quality department budget and annual plans.
  • Training, mentoring, and performance management of direct and indirect Quality department staff.
  • Track and report on quality department metrics, including our Total Cost of Poor Quality.
  • Assure contract review and quality planning is accomplished for all contracts.
  • Provides technical guidance to Quality Engineers and failure analysis teams on root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and the use of various quality tools.
  • Ensure Failure Analysis teams drive to true root causes and implement immediate corrective, and long-term preventive actions.
  • Generate Management Reports on the progress of the quality program and product metrics.
  • Coordinate improvements to our ISO 9000 quality management system, and operate an effective auditing system and corrective/preventive action system.
  • Implement an effective Six-Sigma training program to develop technical staff as certified green and black belts in Six-Sigma
  • Support & lead various process and product improvement activities with the IPT Quality Leads.
  • Develop and deploy Statistical Process Control methods, improved inspection processes, and improve real-time electronic data collection and analysis methods.
  • Implement data driven decision making process and ensure accuracy of reported data.
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above.
  • Primary point of contact with onsite QAR representatives from DCMA, which include coordination of weekly inspections, audits, First Article Inspections, and required reports.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree, preferably in Engineering, and minimum five years’ experience in Quality Engineering, and 5 years in a Quality Assurance role. Master’s Degree in Business Administration is preferred.
  • Prefer candidates with ASQ CQE certification and/or Six Sigma Blackbelt certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Six-sigma, 8D problem solving methodologies, Fault Tree Analysis, Design of Experiment, Statistical Analysis methods and other industry standard quality tools.
  • Demonstrated experience with Statistical Process Control software, and improving electronic data collection, data analysis, and quality event notifications in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Requires strong technical competency and strong computer skills.  Prefer experience with InfinityQS Proficient SPC, DMS/DCS, Minitab, Relational SQL Databases, and PowerBI.
  • Experience with US Government Quality specifications and ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Must be dependable, responsible, and accurate and have the ability to deal with people effectively.
