Job Summary
The Lead Engineer at Armtec Defense Technologies is a key member of the Engineering group, taking ownership for production activities in an assigned area. They support the Program Engineer in driving activities in the area to ensure that program objectives and metrics are met. On this team, the Lead Engineer is the main point of contact within their assigned area for all technical activity and ensures that required engineering activity to support the area is identified, prioritized, and completed. Additionally, the Lead Engineer ensures that any required maintenance and repair activities within the area are sufficiently specified to enable our Maintenance and Repair organization to quickly and satisfactorily maintain our equipment and processes. Lead Engineers may serve as the engineering representatives to the program team when the Program Engineer is not available.

Primary Responsibilities
- Identify, define, and coordinate key technical efforts that are needed to support the area. Coordinate with Program Engineer and other Lead Engineers to leverage additional engineering support staff as needed to accomplish required technical work.
- Serve as backup for the Program Engineer on the Integrated Product Team consisting of Program Management, Engineering, Quality, Production, and Maintenance
- Regularly collect and communicate status of technical activities within the program team, and to outside leadership as needed.
- Perform and/or guide troubleshooting and failure analysis on product, process, and equipment issues as needed to help expedite return to operation activities, and identify any necessary changes to prevent issue recurrence.
- Analyze production performance metrics and trends to identify key performance parameters, and identify potential improvement and risk areas.
- Define required maintenance schedules and develop operation and maintenance procedures to help ensure proper and continued operation of the production system.
- Review and audit production operation and maintenance procedures to ensure adequacy.
- Develop and manage project plans
- Provide inputs on new product and process design by developing new process performance requirements, analyzing product and process design in order to meet requirements, and supporting transition of products into manufacturing in their area
- Interface with internal and external customers on technical issues.
- Mentor direct reports in engineering best practices and establish and execute plans for the personal development and advancement of engineering direct reports.
- Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above
- Understand and live by Armtec’s ethics and business conduct policies
- Minimum 4-year degree in engineering or science discipline, such as mechanical / chemical engineering, aerospace engineering, or chemistry / materials science.
- 3+ years of engineering experience in a production environment.
- In-depth knowledge of process engineering disciplines, including lean methods of process flow control, and statistical process control.
- Strong analytical & problem solving skills, and ability to use statistical tools and techniques.
- Experience with product testing and verification methods, including experience with statistical design of experiment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills required.
- Must be dependable, responsible, and detail oriented and have the ability to deal with people effectively.
- Requires self-direction and ability/willingness to prioritize and take initiative

- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
