Job Summary

The Armtec Defense Technologies (ADT) R & D Program Manager at the Arkansas Business Unit is responsible for managing a strategic growth programs for defense and related applications.  PM responsibilities extend from  concept definition, qualification and transitioning new ADT products into low-rate/full-rate production. 

The R & D Program Manager has several key responsibilities:

  • Works with customers and ADT staff to identify and define specific products suited to ADT operations and capabilities.
  • Coordinates the activities of ADT functional groups to deliver a qualified product in a timely manner and within a carefully controlled budget/schedule.
  • Prepares and manages capital expense requisitions to secure the necessary funding for facility and equipment.
  • Ensures all activities planned for the efficient execution of the program are performed to give a high-quality product, on time, and to cost.
  • Develops detailed work breakdown structures associated with the activities needed for achieving the stated primary goal.
  • Identifies program risks, and develops a risk-mitigation strategy for the program.
  • Develops a product launch, marketing and distribution campaign.
  • Liaison with customers and partners to create an efficient program plan and statement of work meeting ADT financial requirements.
  • Utilizes internal and external resources effectively for program execution.
  • Provides mentoring of potential new program management staff and personnel.
  • Provides routine, accurate reports to senior management as required on program status, cost, schedule, and risks to include written and/or verbal reports as necessary.
  • Applies appropriate Project Management tools and methods to ensure on-time development and delivery, real-time technical and financial status, and launch of remedial actions, as needed.
  • Understands the business model that defines the opportunity and update the ROI potential as the program progresses.

 Maintains excellent customer relations, accurately assess competitive forces, and formulates timely and effective strategic approaches.

  • Extensive working knowledge and experience in managing defense –related programs.
  • Ability to effectively interface with internal and external customers.
  • Strong oral and written presentation skills.
  • Excellent financial aptitude.
  • Maintains the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above.
  • Understands and lives by Armtec’s ethics and business conduct policies.
  • Must be dependable, responsible, and accurate and have the ability to deal with people effectively.

Education/Previous Experience Requirements

  • A relevant science, engineering or business degree is essential.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • 3 – 5 years experience in a Defense Engineering/Manufacturing environment.
  • U.S. citizenship
